Recognizing the finest in the Philippine blogosphere

Abe contemplated on his blog if 2007 is the year of the Filipino Blogger. I would like to think that it is, and add that this year would bring about the start of a new phenomenon. It began with a blast at the Blog Parteeh, which aimed to take the Philippine blogosphere online. And it succeeded. More people seemed to want to take part in this growing community.

Even as early as the second month of 2007, we already saw a lot of advancement in the blogosphere. Aside from the first blog-marketed party, we saw the birth of the Philippines’ first blog network. A small design firm even decided to specialize in blog design and customization (you know I just had to plug my company! Hehe).

Together with Abe and Jayvee, we thought of taking this a tad bit further by recognizing the finest Filipino blogs online through The 2007 Philippine Blog Awards.

The 2007 Philippine Blog Awards

Nomination period will run from February 14 to February 28, 2007. Visit the official website for details and updates.

The Nokia 5300 and N70 that blogging bought

Well, kinda. Sorta. Marc purchased the mobile phones using his credit card, but we’ll be paying for them monthly using my blogging earnings. I would have preferred full payment upfront, but Marc (probably in his excitement) inputted the wrong ATM PIN code thrice! Our ATM card got captured, so we weren’t able to withdraw Php10,000 from that account. These babies cost more than that, but we were planning on withdrawing from our different bank accounts because of the Php10,000 withdrawal limit per transaction.

Our new gadgets!

So anyway, Marc insisted on getting the “better” phone since he’s the one who goes to the office and attends client meetings (I’m just the lowly, work-at-home designer huhuhu). I got the Nokia 5300.

My new phone: Nokia 5300

I’m not really a music person, but it has a sliding function. I don’t know why, but I just find this phone cute. It’s so… small! I even lucked out and was able to avail Nokia’s special offer. It came free with those sleek Bluetooth earphones (I think this promo is only until February 10). Read more

Marrying a blogger ain’t easy — Ask my husband!

Marc just found out how hard it can be marrying a blogger.

I’m so mean, am I not? Heh. But really, it’s not as bad as it sounds. Every blog post he makes merits a “no-refusal” ticket with me. So if I’m the one in mood, he’ll be in luck :D Besides, we just got the blue print of our house’s expansion. We’d need to exercise some degree of self-control if we want to have the house constructed. If we keep up shagging like hamsters, we’d have to save up for a baby instead of a house! :P

Ok, fine. That wasn’t the only reason. Hehehe. Jayvee actually gave me the “no blog, no sex” suggestion a few months back, when I asked him what’s the most creative way I can make Marc maintain his blog. I’ve been itching to monetize his blog ever since I sold my first link on TLA. My posts aren’t Adsense-friendly, and I’ve been hoping that Marc’s would be.

I tried to convince him by flashing at him my TLA checks—didn’t work. I showed him his site’s current PageRank—the doorknob would probably appreciate it more than he did. When his domain jumped to PR5, I knew I had to do something. And quick.

It was time to use Jayvee’s suggestion. And it actually worked.

I don’t know how long Marc and I will be able to keep this up before we start shagging like hamsters again (hahaha Jaypee, are you getting shocked yet?! LOL). But for now, I’ll make the most out of it and plaster some Adsense stuff on his site.

Maybe it’s true that the fastest way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. But it seems that the fastest way to a man’s Adsense earning potential is through his penis! :D

Go on, Digg Marc’s post and help me give him more reasons to blog! Hehe. (Thanks for the Digg post, Migz!)

We’re all going to die!!!

Daily Dose

Oh, nice. I’m blogging regularly again. I gave Marc a motivation to blog, and now I think I’ve given myself one too. No, I’m not depriving myself of love-making if I don’t blog (unlike him hehe). But I have just found another pretty good reason to blog on a regular basis.

I’m starting to get these nasty thoughts of Doomsday.

For those of you who have already met me personally, you know I can be a little ray of sunshine when I wanted to be (or a nasty, swearing biatch when not in the mood). I live each day as it comes—thinking about depressing thoughts like the End of the World just isn’t my cup of tea.

But lately, I seem to notice more and more that I haven’t been using much of my sundresses. And it’s just a few weeks before summer.

The weather is freaking, that’s what it is. I don’t know about you, but the weather is just way too weird. It’s February already, and it’s freaking cold! Usually by now, I’d be frequently in a bad mood because of the heat. But I’m not. I’m still shivering under blankets like as if it’s December.

It doesn’t help either that my Dad just bought a DVD of The Day After Tomorrow and lent it to me.

Miriam College (formerly Maryknoll College), where I took grade school and high school, was a breeding ground for environmentalists. Maybe that’s where I got my love for animals, who knows? Anyway, that school was actually all about saving the environment during my time. So I learned a lot about Global Warming.

Global Warming (and the nasty effects it had as shown in the movie) used to be something I consider an event that would only happen in the very distant future. I just never really thought its effects could start this soon. And in my lifetime.

I’m getting a bit scared. Really. But for some reason, knowing this has somehow given me more reason to make the most out of my life. I guess that pretty much happens when you feel like the End’s getting near.

“…After all, to the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.”

Another reason for me not to get sick

Family Stuff

I’ve said it before that I’m practically not allowed to get sick, considering the amount of work that I usually have to do. Well, it seems that I found another reason not to get sick:

Mt. Dirty Laundry

I had huge piles of laundry waiting for me yesterday after a week of sniffling, sneezing, and blowing my nose till kingdom come. I knew that I’d be washing more clothes when I volunteered to do my family’s laundry (they don’t have a maid right now, and my dad needs all the help he can get doing the chores), but I always made it a point to wash dirty clothes at least once every two days, so I have never really seen such a huge pileup like this before.

Five simultaneous web projects I can handle, but this pile?! Seeing that huge a pile just makes me want to go back to bed and sleep.

Well, ok. Maybe I kinda did bring this upon myself. It’s probably my tendency to be compulsive about rinsing the clothes that made doing the laundry tiring. I prefer to do the initial rinse by hand. That way, I’d be able to rinse out what the washing machine can’t do. Clothes that aren’t rinsed well smell really icky, and I don’t like wearing stinky clothes.

Now let’s just hope my dogs and I don’t drown ourselves under these huge piles of laundry :P
