The rewards of Karma

I‘m not really into social networking. Browsing profiles really isn’t my thing… I just don’t have time for it, and I honestly think I have better things to do than going through each and every one of my contacts’ profiles. I accept the invites, sign up, approve Friend requests, customize my profile a bit—but that’s about it. I don’t really spend too much time on those things after that. So yeah, it’s kinda hard for me to get into web app “fads” as easily as others do.

Plurk is different. It’s like Twitter, but I like it better 🙂 Read more

Party party!!!

We’ve been so busy with work and fixing our house that Marc and I gave ourselves a self-imposed hiatus from blogger parties and events for the past month. We attended a few when our schedule permitted it, but sometimes work can be overwhelmingly stressful that we’d really need to get out and have fun (thank goodness we went to Palawan, we’d have gone crazy if we hadn’t).

So, for you busy bees with a bit of free time, I hope to see you in two upcoming parties at Taste Asia: Buhay Coke ng Bloggers and Taste of Beauty. Here are the details…

What: Buhay Coke ng Bloggers with SM Hypermarket (party ito!)
When: June 27, 2008, Friday, 7:00 p.m. (that would be this coming Friday)
Where: Taste Asia (beside SM Hypermarket) at the Mall of Asia
Why: Para magsaya! Loads of prizes up for grabs!

According to Aileen, bloggers who registered and show up will get a case of Coke Zero 330ml. To register for Buhay Coke ng Bloggers, sign up here.

For: All bloggers
What: Taste of Beauty at Taste Asia (party!!!)
When: July 4, 2008, Friday, 7:00 p.m.
Where: Taste Asia (beside SM Hypermarket) at the Mall of Asia

There might be an iPhone up for grabs. If you’d like to get a chance to win it, register here for the Taste of Beauty event on July 4.

Oh, and yeah… Registering for the Taste of Beauty doesn’t make you gay if you’re a straight guy 😀 I registered my husband not as my date, but as a blogger with my sister along. He protested at first (he thought it was a girls-and-gays-only event), but I asked Aileen and she said it was open to everyone and not just a specific group of people. So ahead and sign up!

The good in bad decisions

Ah. It feels so good to be blogging again. I’ve been stuck with an awful DSL service by Digitel for more than three weeks AGAIN that I think I actually had a “blogging withdrawal.” This was the second time Digitel conked out on us. Having a web design company, three weeks of no high-speed connection makes it extremely difficult for us to do business properly.

You can just imagine how happy I am to finally be able to surf all I want, upload whenever I want, test sites without worrying of bad uploads, and blog whenever I felt like it. We only had Digitel late last March (that’s like about three months only), and we’ve been experiencing nothing but bad service. Marc was already tired of the support representatives’ spiel to pacify his anger (it actually pissed him off more), and I was so frustrated not to get any work done. It took Digitel weeks to fix our connection the first time. You’d think the second one would be better, but it was just as awful as the first. We barely enjoyed DSL speed nearing 1mbps when it conked out again.

We had downtime—lasting about three weeks each—twice in three months. That was the last straw. Read more

Let’s celebrate our Independence

I usually have a lot of things to say, but at the moment, I’m so not in the mood (my brain is still in vacation mode, unfortunately). So any thought regarding Philippine independence I will just reserve to those who do want to think about it 😛 One thing’s for sure, I’m glad we’re free—and free to travel and protect our own natural resources. Yep, I’m still in Palawan mode. The beauty of Mother Nature that I saw in Palawan is something I can’t help but be proud of—I’m proud to be Filipino.

Happy Independence Day!

A weekend adventure in Busuanga Island, Coron, Palawan (Part 1)

It’s hard to believe that Marc, Eric, Nina, Ferdz and I were enjoying the beautiful Palawan forests and waters just yesterday (thanks, SEAIR!). I keep imagining that I’ll see boats parked outside my window, or that I’d hear kids splashing into the water. How I wish I was back in that humble lodge in Busuanga.

Reality check: I need to get back to work 🙁 But before I do that, allow me to share with you our weekend adventure in Palawan!

Our trip had been a real adventure (not the usual “just lounging by the beach and staying at a resort kind of thing”), one post just won’t do it justice. I’ve got so much photos and experiences to share, so I’m separating our adventure in Palawan in three parts. Read along for the first one! Read more
