Halloween came a tad bit early for me. Totally unexpected, I might add. And I realize that it seems to be the reason why I couldn’t bring myself to blog till now—it really does take time before one can accept the fact that she’ll be losing her teeth. All of them, except one.
I came to the dentist with only one shallow intention: I just wanted to have my bridge fixed. It was protruding in an ugly way, so I wanted to make it look better in time for my wedding. When my dentist was examining my teeth, he was already telling me that there was a chance that he might have to remove the teeth where the bridge was hanging on to. You could just imagine how nervous I was. If he removed those teeth, I’d be left with only one tooth.
Upon the removal of the bridge, I could see from the look on his face that I was in for the worst: I’d lose all my teeth at the age of 25.
I really could not understand why this had to happen. I told my dentist that ever since I lost some teeth and had to have partial dentures and bridges, I’ve been doing my best to take care of the remaining ones. I brushed my teeth and partial dentures regularly, and made sure nothing got stuck in between when I’m eating. I don’t chew gum. I don’t even attempt to bite hard food. So what went wrong?
Apparently, I lacked nutrition. It was the lack of calcium and vitamins that made my teeth extremely brittle. My workaholic schedule didn’t help too. And to make matters worse, I don’t drink vitamins regularly.
So there you have it. I now have an early and natural Halloween costume. It’s a good thing I work from home, else, going out in public would have been torture. I can’t even bring myself to look in the mirror.
A face with no teeth isn’t really that much of an issue for me (I’ll just be in hibernation here at home for the entire week till I get my dentures on Saturday). I can even tolerate the pain (I’ve gone through worse, actually). But the unbearable part of this ordeal is the fact that I can’t eat decent food.
Ever since last week, I haven’t had a decent meal. All I’ve been living on were soup, mashed potatoes, oatmeal, and more soup. Whenever my family eats lunch or dinner, my dad makes it a point to tell me that they’re going to be eating so I’ll have the option to eat my soup with them or just have my food in the computer room. I always choose the latter—it’s a real torture seeing but not being able to eat the yummy food my dad cooks.
I read in one of my sister’s teeny-bopper magazines that when you’re dieting, it doesn’t hurt to give in to your cravings once in a while—a little bit of that sinful chocolate cake won’t hurt. At least you’ll stop thinking about it and lessen the risk of you gorging yourself and ruining the diet. But in my case, it’s worse.
I can’t even eat anything that requires chewing. They’re not even sinful food!
And worse, I know it’s my fault that I can’t eat anything decent. If I’ve been more conscious about my health, I don’t think I’d lose my teeth.
My only consolation now is that I’ve lost a few pounds. And at the rate I’m going, I have a feeling I’d lose more within the month. Well, at least I’d look sexy wearing my wedding gown. But then, I guess that’s just me trying to make myself see the good out of this torturous ordeal 🙁
Im 20, girl, and got the same problem. My teeth break easily and decay very fast. My first 2 teeth removed at 12. After that filled all but didnt work. I marked my teeth removal chart 3 at 15, 3 at 17, 2 at 18 and 5 last year. The most bad day for me comming in two weeks, where I have to remove 3 upper front ones mostly with 4 others. So 22 for age 20 isnt that too much for me. Im worst than you. My dentist said ” you ll be losing all before 22″
The other worst thing is im so afraid to remove. whenever a toothache comes I feel like Dying as I know I definitly have to remove it. Then I make a appoinmant keeping 2-weeks time to make the mind. Many times i have fainted at the dentist while pulling them out. Last year I had five of them pulled out at once remaining with Stitches . I cant explain how afraid I was. And Im horrified to remind the next appointmant pulling out 7.
I wore partial dentures untill last year. One day top – left one fell infront of my friends. After that I wear them only when eat.
Now im worrying about front teeth removal. I cried alone many times but thats the life. Im trying to get a image of toothless me in 2-years.
I sure feel for you. I understand about teeth pain. I had cancer and well, I am cancer free now. Because of the chemo, over a years worth, my gums and teeth are horrible. I am going to have to get them all pulled and have full set of dentures. I am scared. I have a lot of bone loss in my jaw, too. I can’t afford to get very much done. That is why I have waited this long. But, I can no longer stand to live on Hydrocodone everyday for the rest of my life. I take a ton of other medications daily becuase of the chemo and radiation damage to my body. Please let me know how you are doing now. Thanks!
I was just surfing the web looking for stories on extractions, I have a awful toothache and a dentist appointment today and just wanted to see if there was a story that would share how patients, not just dentists, could “tell” if you need an extraction or root canal. No luck in finding it, and I didnt think so. Anyway, thats when I stumbled across your story.
My mom lost all her teeth at the age of 26. She had suffered with constant toothaches through her first two pregnancies and finally had enough. When she went into have this done, Medicaid gave the dentist a hard time about paying for it, that is, until he told them only one tooth could be saved. That was back in 1967.
Im sorry for your loss, although Im sure your fine now. And as far it being torturous to go out into public, try being a dark haired woman that grows a full beard and no way to pay for electrolysis or laser surgery. Having to shave very sensitive skin. Atleast you would eventually get dentures. I will most likely never get a “normal” woman face.
Take care. I hope your able to eat your dad’s yummy foods now 🙂

i just had all my teeth out last friday..face all swollen lips swollen cant eat regular food and drooling :(..people say when get over all of this i wont regret having it done but i regret it right now though
Try some scrambled eggs, dude. I lost all my teeth yesterday, bled all over my pillow for 2 days, woke up dizzy and tired and beat up. I have to go to work – I cant stay home. To make matters worse I am a truck driver. I have to wait almost 2 months for my dentures! You think you have it bad? 3 scrambled eggs in butter and two pureed banannas in a food processor with a little water. Not only a weight loss diet, but actually good and healthy! On the road I will make things ahead when I can with the food processer, but there’s always Gerber! Good luck… but I think we will survive.
Hello, This is Mary
I am 36 years old with 2 toddlers. My youngest just started day care last week- which still feels a little strange. I haven’t had this much time to myself in years. First thing I want to do is lose the extra pounds I put on during the last pregnancy. One of the girls next door has suggested I join her walking group two days a week. After my first pregnancy I lost around 35 pounds using the Herbalife products, but when I called the man that sold them to me three years ago he told me this week he doesn’t sell them anymore. He told me to look on the internet. It’s disappointing because he was really nice and he called me regularly to make sure I was using their products correctly. It was nice to have someone checking in with me every week to see how I was and it kept me motivated.
I searched on the internet for someone that sells Herbalife in New Jersey. I found many websites but I don’t want
just to buy the products, I want to find someone trustworthy that sells the products so I can also meet them and get started again.
Could anybody here recommend someone in New Brunswick?.
Thanks, Mary
Hi Mary,
>From one mom to another I think I have a solution for you!! I want to lose 40 pounds, and I’ve lost 28 so far!!! I am feeling fantastic and have more energy than I did when I was in college. I went through three different Herbalife distributors until I found the person I felt really actually cared about me and helped me to start getting results. The bottom line was that I wanted to find somebody that could offer me good prices, but that could also check in with me to make sure I was doing ok.
I used to drive two hours to meet with my first distributor in West Haven, Connecticut. I even brought the girls with me a few times because I couldn’t find a babysitter. Today my Herbalife coach does everything over the phone and it is much easier with my busy schedule. You can order Herbalife online on his website, you get the shakes a few days after with FedEx and then you can setup a telephone meeting once a week to make sure you are doing the program right.
His name is Danny Castello and his website is http://www.goshape.com. The number is (310) 928- 3835. He and his girlfriend Michaela actually do most of the coaching together as a team, but she has an Herbalife site as well: http://www.puresteps.com. He does most of the motivation on the call and gives you important facts regarding nutrition. He can be a bit tough but he really wants you to get results. She is a bit softer- so they make a good combination. Actually I also recommend joining his newsletter first so you can see the articles on nutrition. They also have videos so you can see who they are before actually calling them. Its nice because they actually use the products too. You can see on their websites.
Hope this helps!
