Hey look, I’m an Apostle of Globe Innove. Since Markku is going (which means, I’ll know somebody there aside from Abe), I’m in as well. Besides, who’d pass up the chance of free food and be called a “high-traffic blogger“? Flattery is one thing, feeding is another. And if you have both, you have one happy blogger 😀
Seriously though… I’m really curious what this is all about. I’ll tell you guys as soon as I get answers, I think Globe Innove is serious about this “exclusivity” thing. My dad probably won’t lend me one of his Nikon cameras, so I’ll just bring my trusty old Panasonic one.
It’s interesting to note that more and more local companies are realizing that blogs aren’t just for angsty teenagers blogging about their angsty lives. This Globe Innove thing is definitely a great start, and I do hope more companies get into it too.
I won’t exactly call myself a “professional” blogger (I honestly don’t think Kutitots is near to being a Celebrity Blog)—I like to think of myself as a web designer more—but I like to think of my entries as “following” certain “blog rules.” Call me a blog elitist all you want, but angsty-bright-pink-with-blinkies-and-wrong-grammar blogs really do piss me off. It’s no wonder that some companies here in the Philippines still don’t see blogging as a good way of advertising online.
The common excuse I get (or read) from people with those stuff that annoy me, is, most often than not: “It’s MY blog.” Some even go to the extreme of calling their blogs as “their world.” So ok. Whatever. But you DID put it on the Net… for people to read.
Some will probably just ignore your bad grammar and continue reading, but some won’t. Others will like your pinky-blinkies, but some won’t. There will be people who won’t have a headache reading your yellow-text-on-fuschia-pink-background color scheme, but some won’t. Some will not like these things enough that they will point them out to you. I would think you’d be a total fool if you get mad that they did. You should be flattered that they liked your content enough to ask you to improve these things so they won’t need to stop visiting your site.
If you can’t live with your readers’ criticisms, then I think it would be better for you to not publish anything. Lashing out on people in your blog that “they offended you” by pointing out your bad grammar, annoying pinky-blinkies, or migraine-inducing color scheme won’t do you any good. Your blog will never improve nor evolve. Worse, people will stop visiting and just forget about your site.
When somebody corrects your grammar or points out how unreadable your site is, thank them instead of deleting their comments outright or resetting your database. Try to make an effort to do something about them, and stop making stupid excuses. If you really can’t handle criticism on your work or writing, then I think it might be safe to say that you need some growing up to do. Or better yet, see a shrink.
No, sorry, I won’t tell you guys for whom this entry is for 😀
hmm… sa POV ko naman, blogs started as personal blog. Walang pumapansin sa mga corporate/business world kelan lang kasi na-evolve at nagkaroon ng tech blogs, business blogs… at iba pang ek ek na blog. So kanya kanya style lang yan. Kung magkwento man ang isang blog about his/her daily life, dahil dun naman nagsimula ang blog eh. Ako aaminin ko ever since nagsimula ako magblog ng January 2001 c/o of my german friend, it’s mainly a personal blog talaga. If they stop visiting your blog, ok lang, meron pa naman ibang bisita eh. Yung ibang bloggers dyan, kaya huminto sila sa pagbibisita ng blog eh dahil di ka rin bumibisita sa blog nila (stupid reason I know). I write in my blog like I’m opening my diary to all of my friends especially that I have friends abroad. I don’t need a comment. Nasa sa iyo yan kung gusto mong basahin kung ano na ang nangyayari na sa akin.. malay mo suicide note na pala yun.
I maybe don’t follow a certain rules in blogging… I don’t care. It’s my past time, and it’s my life and nobody can stop me from writing.
Yung tungkol sa design ng isang blog, I rather to keep it simple at walang mga pinkies and blinkies… aaminin ko pa yung wrong grammar ^-^ sorry ha.. line of 7 ako sa english eh…kung pwede nga lang magsulat sa pure tagalog eh… kaso lang may friends ako sa ibang bansa.
naku, ate gail, mukhang may tinamaan kaaaaaaahhh -_-
there really are ‘some people’ who can’t take criticism *LOL*
This is getting interesting 😀 Just remember to keep manners in check.
Reaction is exactly as expected. I aimed this post to a certain person, and anyone who’s guilty of any of those “what-not’s” will bound to react, regardless if it’s for them or not.
FYI, those “iba pang ek ek na blog” have been here since 2001. And if you want to go more technical, it’s been around since 1994, because those “ek ek” you’re describing is better said as “blog type”.
Best know your references before calling other blog types as “ek ek.” My FILIPINO friend was able to buy a brand-new camera and a second-hand car because of his tech blog. Saying your opinion is one thing, but generalizing without factual basis is another.
Be careful guys, I’m watching 🙂
@ Gail.. that’s what I’m trying to say… hindi yung isang meaning ng “ek ek”. I just can’t think of the correct term. Buti na lang di ko sinabi na “some chuvachenez blogs”… Familiar naman sakin ang photolog, travellog, tech and corporates. Maybe it was not called “blog” but articles or news updates *shrugged*
I can take criticisms pero wa ako care kasi ganito ako magsulat. You can give me the “The worst blog writer” award wa akong pake… pero I’m speaking of some of my friends din.
If you really do take criticisms, dapat you learn from what everyone is telling you. And hindi… “wala akong pake”. Nagcocontradict ang mga sinasabi mo eh o.. you just can’t think of the correct term?
If Globe gives you free cellphone, sakin na lang ha! hehe, mwah!!
Ang tanong: Sino sa 12 Apostles si Hudas!!?
I’ve been through that phase! hahaha, reading about it from other people makes me ashamed of myself for being so self-centered during those times, hahaha 😛 Pero natuwa naman ako kasi nagawa kong baguhin yung sarili ko at perspective ko na porke ako ang gumawa at nag-administer wala na dapat makialam sa akin ehehe
Have to admit na madalas eh wrong grammar ako at napaka-tamad kong tao para balikan yung mga entries kong may wrong spelling hahaha, will be working on that! ^.^
What’s a professional blogger nga ba? Madalas kong naririnig yan pero hindi ko ma-point out kung ano nga ba, yun ba yung mga taong kumikita sa blog nila at maraming visitors araw-araw? Yun ba yung mga taong may certain niche ang mga posts? Kung ganon nga then I won’t be a problogger, kasi kaya ako nagba-blog para therapy sa sarili ko ehehe… Madali kasi ma-stress out 😛
ummm this is true, i ran across your blog randomly and one tip…GREEN ON GREEN and GREY ON GREY color schemes give me migrains….the rest of my advanced web application class as well thinks the same. I have to squint to see the text on the links…but besides that your site is pretty cool for a web designer.
My friends and I used to read and edit each other’s blog, and we are still close friends until now. That means, true friendships and bonds can never be broken by just criticisms… friends should strengthen, improve and make you a better you. =D
